1. Who we are and what this policy covers

Naarks ("Naarks", "we", "us") is a cross-border platform connecting people, families, professionals and businesses between Mauritius, Canada and beyond. We offer services including help moving to Canada or to Mauritius, support settling in and getting started, career and professional guidance, family and education support, and business connections across Mauritius and Canada.

This policy explains how we collect, use, share and protect personal information when you visit this website, contact us or use our services. Our person in charge of the protection of personal information can be reached at contact@naarks.com.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Contact details such as your name, email address, phone number and country of residence
  • The content of your messages and the service you are enquiring about
  • Information needed to deliver a service you request, for example your timeline, family situation, housing, school, travel or career preferences, your CV or professional background, or details about your business

Information collected automatically

  • Technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type and the pages you view, which our hosting provider may record in server logs
  • Information stored on your own device, such as your checklist progress on our guides (see our Cookie Policy)

Information from others

We may receive information about you from partners or professionals you have asked us to work with, or from the person who referred you. Where the law requires it, we do so with your consent.

Please do not send us government identification numbers, payment card numbers, banking details or similar sensitive documents through the website or by ordinary email. If a service requires documents, we will explain how to share them securely.

3. How we use your information

  • To respond to your enquiries and provide the services you ask for
  • To arrange introductions to partners, providers, employers, candidates or businesses, with your knowledge and consent
  • To communicate with you about your request, appointments and service updates
  • To send news, guides or offers, only where you have agreed to receive them
  • To operate, secure and improve our website and services
  • To meet legal, tax and regulatory obligations and to protect our rights

4. Your consent and legal basis

We collect and use personal information with your consent, or where applicable law permits or requires it, for example to carry out a contract with you or to comply with a legal obligation. You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us, although this may mean we can no longer provide certain services.

5. Who we share information with

We share personal information only when it is needed for the purposes described in this policy:

  • Service providers who help us run our business, such as website hosting, email, scheduling, form and payment tools
  • Partners and professionals you have asked us to connect you with, such as landlords, schools, travel suppliers, employers or other businesses, limited to what is needed for your request
  • Authorities and advisers where the law requires it, or to protect our rights, or to our professional advisers under confidentiality
  • A buyer or successor if our business is reorganised or sold, subject to this policy

We do not sell your personal information.

6. Transfers outside your province or country

Because we work between Canada and Mauritius, your information may be stored in or accessed from Quebec, elsewhere in Canada, Mauritius and other countries where our service providers operate. Privacy laws in those places may differ from those where you live. Before transferring personal information outside Quebec we take the steps required by Quebec law, including assessing the privacy risks and using appropriate protections such as contractual commitments.

7. How long we keep your information

We keep personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes for which it was collected, including to provide services, resolve disputes and meet legal, tax or accounting requirements. When it is no longer needed, we securely destroy or anonymise it.

8. How we protect your information

We use reasonable physical, organisational and technical safeguards suited to the sensitivity of the information. No website or method of transmission is completely secure. If a confidentiality incident presents a risk of serious injury, we will notify the affected people and the relevant authority, such as the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec, as the law requires, and we keep a register of incidents.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate, incomplete or outdated information
  • Withdraw your consent to our use or sharing of your information
  • Ask us to stop or de-index the dissemination of your information, or to delete it, where the law provides for this
  • Receive your information in a structured, commonly used technological format, where the law provides for this
  • Object to receiving marketing messages

To use any of these rights, write to contact@naarks.com. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to confirm your identity first.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, if you are in Mauritius, the Data Protection Office of Mauritius.

10. Marketing messages

We send electronic marketing messages only with your consent, in line with Canada's anti-spam legislation. Every message includes a way to unsubscribe, and you can also write to us at any time.

11. Children

Our website is intended for adults. Some of our services, such as family relocation, school research and student support, involve information about children, which we collect from a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 14 without the consent of a parent or guardian.

12. Links and third-party tools

Our website may link to other websites, and it loads fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google's servers and Google may receive technical information such as your IP address. Messages you send through our contact form are passed to us by a third-party form-handling service, which processes them to deliver your message to our inbox. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of other websites, so please read their policies.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. If we make important changes, we will tell you in a suitable way, for example by notice on this website.
